Help us to grow our school!
Surrey Maths School (SuMS) is a specialist 16-19 Maths School which opened in Guildford in September 2024 to serve students across the South East, aiming to become a hub of excellence for the teaching of the mathematical sciences. We have 85 students in Year 12 from 65 schools across the South East and beyond.
We are looking to appoint to a range of exciting roles for September 2025 as we expand to include our second year group. We are a collaborative school and committed to team planning meetings in which we can discuss the approaches, concepts and resources to be used. Everyone has a voice and a chance to contribute to the development of the curriculum. We are looking for inspirational teachers and leaders whose values align with our school and who will work with us to actively promote equity and diversity through the planning and delivery of inclusive lessons.
You will be responsible for pastoral care of Year 12 and Y13 students at Surrey Maths School (SuMS) and will be responsible for supporting all students, managing behaviour and welfare, overseeing attendance and punctuality, and leading the PSHEE programme. Alternatively, we are keen for candidates who may be interested in the slightly smaller role of Lead Teacher of Y12 or Lead Teacher of Y13. This is an excellent opportunity to shape and develop a middle leadership role with the first cohorts of SuMs students.
You would would be expected to teach one of the core subjects of the school to A Level standard (mathematics and further mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science or economics). The post is available part-time or full-time (0.8 - 1 FTE) and you should indicate your preference when applying.
We are currently advertising a number of roles and there is much flexibility in the roles on offer, so please indicate in your application if you would like to apply for a combination of roles or have a different preference for your FTE. This is a unique opportunity to work in an environment where there is real excitement and enthusiasm for the mathematical sciences and where you have the chance to shape the minds of the future.
At Surrey Maths School you will be part of a small, enthusiastic and supportive team working with colleagues who are innovative and driven by our school mission and vision. Take a look at our SuMS information pack for prospective staff for more information about the broader school and what you can expect from working with us.
